The Acting General Manager of the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu has appealed to all drivers to exhibit patience while driving on Lagos roads.
Speaking during a radio interview programme, “Lunch Time Waka” on Traffic Radio 96.1fm, Tiamiyu maintained that a good driver can be an ambassador to other drivers by exhibiting road courtesy as well as safe and pleasant driving skills while obeying traffic rules and regulations operating in the State.
She added that defensive driving is being taught at the Institute to encourage drivers to stay alive without creating havoc or accidents on the roads, bearing in mind at all times that the road is an asset that must be shared with other users such as pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists.
The acting General Manager appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu for his prompt response to the challenges facing the Institute over the past few years saying, “We are indeed grateful to the Governor, we have started issuing the permanent cards in all our centres now and have our amiable Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo- Olu to thank for this gesture”.
She encouraged all professional drivers to participate in the yearly refresher training opportunities at various centres across the State, disclosing that the curriculum of the Institute is being upgraded every year to ensure safer driving culture on Lagos roads.
