Road To 2023: Amosun, Enilolobo, Adeyemi Emerges PDP Candidates For Abeokuta South

History was made on Sunday May 22, 2022 as the People’s Democratic Party, Abeokuta South Local Government, Ogun State conducted its primary election to elect Hon. Akeem Akintayo Amosun as it’s candidate for the Federal House of Representatives, Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.

The State House of Assembly primary election was also held to elect Olanrewaju Solomon Enilolobo (OSE) as PDP candidate to represent Abeokuta South Constituency 1 in the forthcoming 2023 general election while Hon Suraj Adeyemi was also elected to represent Abeokuta South Constituency 2 at the keenly contested primary elections.

The Federal House of Representatives primary election was held at designated venue: Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library with presence of INEC, DSS, Different Police Formations including their DPOs, the SCIB and the NSCDC. The House of Assembly Constituency 1 primary election was held at Centenary Hall, Ake while that of Constituency 2 was held at Ijeja Town Hall, Ibara, Abeokuta. Both are the designated venues for the respective elections as monitored by INEC, DSS, The Nigerian Police, the SCIB and the NSCDC.

Akeem Akintayo Amosun defeated Toyin Amuzu and Akin Sorunke to clinch the ticket. Hon. Sunday Sodipe (Kujima) and the duo Sakiru Sanusi and Somoye Adeyemi were both defeated in Abeokuta South Constituency 1 and Constituency 2 respectively.

Earlier, the National Organizing Secretary Hon. Umar Bature had released a press statement affirming that the “State Houses of Assembly Primaries to elect our State House of Assembly candidates will hold on Sunday, May 22, 2022, the House of Representatives Primaries to elect our House of Representatives candidates will also hold on Sunday, May 22, 2022 while the Senatorial Primary to elect our Senatorial candidates will hold on Monday, May 23, 2022”

“The NWC further clarifies that by virtue of Section 84(8) of the Electoral Act, 2022, those qualified and eligible to vote as delegates in the forthcoming Primaries and National Convention of our great Party are the three (3) AD-HOC Delegates per ward, elected at the Ward Congresses and one (1) National Delegate per Local Government, elected at the Local Government Area Congresses.”, the statement reads.
