Speaker , Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon (Prince) Olakunle Oluomo has expressed shock at the road carnage that took the lives of pupils around Ifo General Hospital turning, along the Lagos Abeokuta express way in Ifo local government, earlier today.

A statement by his Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) AbdulGhaffar Adeleye, indicates that the speaker was pained to note that the victims of the incident were mostly school children.

The statement adds that the Rt Hon Speaker got to the scene of the incident but could not stand seeing lifeless bodies of kids, hence hurriedly called on security agents and traffic officials to rescue the situation and ensure safety of others around the scene.

“The painful part was that the containerised truck was said to be on high speed that he could not control himself easily, hence ramming into children who were on their way to school and several tricycles. It is very sad” he lamented.

While consoling parents of the deceased, Prince Oluomo prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the unfortunate loss.

He however enjoined motorists to be more careful on the road and always consider the interests of other road users while plying the roads.

According to him, “Our Truck drivers and other motorists should always exercise caution on the road. The road is not theirs alone. They should always consider that there are other people also using the road” advised Oluomo

The Speaker prays for quick recovery of other victims still in the hospital assuring them of God’s divine torch as they recuperate.
