Road Crash Claims 5 Lives In Lagos, 10 Injured

No fewer than five persons have been reported dead, while ten were injured in a road accident that occurred on Thursday night, in Maryland, Lagos state.

The multiple crash which occurred around 11:00 p.m. was said to have involved one articulated vehicle with number plate YYB 112 XA, a commercial bus painted in Lagos colour with number plate KRD 672; XE, and an unidentified tipper loaded with granite.

It was reported that the incident which occurred enroute Anthony happened when the articulated vehicle lost its control and ran into the oncoming tipper and commercial bus loaded with passengers.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Route Commander, Olabisi Sonusi confirmed the incident.

Sonusi disclosed that the bodies have been handed over to the appropriate

agency at the scene of the incident and the crashed vehicles were towed off the road.

According to her, a total of 15 people (12 males and 3 females), were involved in the accident but five lost their lives due to head injuries sustained while the injured ones were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“The combined efforts of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, alongside FRSC, the Nigeria Police, and LASAMBUS were on ground for the recovery operation.

“A total number of 15 people (12 males and three females), were involved in the accident but five adults (four males and one female), lost their lives.

“The Sector Commander commiserates with the families of the deceased and wishes the injured quick recovery”, she said
