Restructuring, Solution To Socio-Political, Economic Challenges Facing Nigeria- Oluomo

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has affirmed that restructuring of the nation will help resolve the socio-political and economic challenges bedevilling it.

Oluomo made made the remarks, while playing host to the members of the Association of National Development and Growth ( ANDEG-NIG) led by its national President, Dr. Remi Aroyeun, who were on an advocacy visit to the State House of Assembly.

He explained that the multi challenges facing the nation was a result of its size, composition and the multi ethnic diversity amongst others, which required an immediate restructuring to address.

The Speaker noted that the State Government had been proactive in ensuring peace and security of lives and property of the people through the various supports interm of equipment and logistics, promising that the Assembly under his leadership would continue to give preference to initiatives towards promoting democratic ideals, as well as effective security, peace and progress of the State.

Earlier in his presentation, the Association’s President, Dr. Aroyeun stated that ANDEG-NIG embarked on independent work for Nigeria freedom to sensitive the people on the need to campaign for freedom from societal menace including boko haram, SARS and internet fraud otherwise known as ‘Yahoo’ amongst others. He sought the need to promote the sustenance of democratic ideals.

Meanwhile, a lawmaker representing Ado- Odo/Ota State Constituency II, Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, has called for an immediate investigation into alleged contionus kidnapping and murder of some residents of Idolehin Village in his constituency, the situation he noted had been going on years back.

According to Lamidi, who spoke under personal explation during a plenary presided over by Speaker Olakunle Oluomo, each time the security agents were drafted in to the place, it was always a case of missing persons, as bodies of kidnapped people were not found, hence the need for the security agencies to burst the syndicate killing the people in the area.

Responding, the Speaker called on the security agencies to carry out investigations about the killings, while urging the residents to always avail the security agents with necessary information to arrrest those perpetuating the crime.

Also at the plenary, the Assembly’s Chief Whip, Hon. Atinuke Bello, submitted a petition on behalf of the residents of the Federal Housing, Ikoto in Odogbolu State Constituency on the illegal activities of land grabbers in the area.

The Speaker thereafter refered the petition to the House Committee on Lands and Housing for necessary actions.
