• Hails Aiyedatiwa’s Landslide Victory
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed delight over the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s Ondo State governorship election, where Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa secured a resounding win across all 18 local government areas.
Reacting to the outcome of the polls, Buhari, through a statement issued by his media aide Garba Shehu, commended the voters for their clear expression of confidence in the APC and Governor Aiyedatiwa. “The voters have spoken lucidly and loudly about the trust they have in the party and its leadership,” Buhari remarked.
He stressed the importance of respecting the will of the electorate, noting that the outcome reflected the strength of democracy in Nigeria. “This election underscores that democracy remains robust and resilient in a large and diverse nation like ours,” Buhari added.
Buhari urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to prioritize policies that drive economic growth, tackle unemployment, and address inflation. He also emphasized the need for welfare programs aimed at improving the lives of citizens. “I challenge the governor to focus on initiatives that promote economic development and enhance the welfare of the people,” he stated.
Commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and law enforcement agencies, Buhari acknowledged their efforts in addressing past electoral challenges. He noted that the improvements seen in the Ondo election were significant steps toward strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.
Buhari concluded by wishing Governor Aiyedatiwa and his team a successful tenure. “I congratulate Governor Aiyedatiwa and the APC for this remarkable victory and hope it translates into impactful governance for the people of Ondo State,” he said.
