Students of Olabisi Onabanjo University in their scores visited the Ogun State Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta to register their appreciation to the State Government for the prompt rescue of two female students of the Ayetoro campus of the institution that were kidnapped last Sunday.
Addressing the students, the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun restated his administration’s commitment to providing adequate security for the people of the State, regardless of their tribe, class or religion.
The Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Alh. Shuaib Salisu said the present administration places high premium on security of lives and property and would continue to do everything possible to ensure that the mission is not compromised, appreciating all security operatives for their efforts at ensuring that the kidnapped students were rescued.
He noted that his administration had done a lot in the area of security, part of which were establishment of Security Trust Fund, procurement of 100 Patrol vehicles, 200 motorcycles for security personnel, establishment of Joint Security Initiative Squad (JSIS) in the Farmers/Herders’ crisis areas and formation of the Western Security Network ‘AMOTEKUN’, among others.
Earlier in their separate remarks, the President of National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), Comrade Oluwasegun Alao and the Chairman of National Association of Nigeria Students, (NANS), Ogun State chapter, Comrade Kehinde Damilola lauded the Governor for providing a responsible leadership in the State.
