Reps get principal officers as members nominate leaders for majority, minority caucuses

The 10th House of Representatives now has principal officers.

Members of the majority and minority caucuses communicated their nominations to the Speaker of the House, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, which he read out to members on the floor on Tuesday.
At the opening of the plenary, the Speaker notified the House of communications from the respective caucuses in which they have nominated majority and majority leaders.

Abbas also noted that the nominations, which were endorsed with signatures of members of the respective caucuses, could be verified with the Clerk to the House, Dr Yahaya Danzaria.

Majority Caucus:
Julius Ihonvbere (APC/Edo) – Majority Leader
Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims (APC/Kogi) – Deputy Leader
Bello Usman Kumo (APC/Kebbi) – Chief Whip
Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga (APC/Kogi) – Deputy Chief Whip

Minority Caucus:
Kingsley Chinda (PDP/Rivers) – Minority Leader
Ali Madaki (NNPP/Kano) – Deputy Minority Leader
Ali Isa (PDP/Gombe) – Minority Whip
George Ozodinobi (LP/Anambra) – Deputy Minority Whip

The caucus leaders will serve as principal officers and they form the leadership of the House together with the presiding officers – Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
