Newly appointed Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for Ogun State, Remilekun Ekundayo, has pledged her commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure across the state.

Ekundayo made this pledge during the official handover ceremony held at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Abeokuta on Friday. The ceremony marked her assumption of office as the 12th substantive Commandant, succeeding ACG David Idowu Ojelabi.

In a statement released by Dyke Ogonnaya, the Ogun NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Ekundayo expressed her gratitude for the foundation laid by her predecessor. “Commandant Ekundayo, while receiving the instruments of office from ACG David Idowu Ojelabi, expressed appreciation for his dedication, sense of discipline, and contributions to the Corps,” Ogonnaya noted. Ekundayo highlighted the importance of disciplined service, emphasizing her dedication to the tenets of regimentation that define the Corps’ operational guidelines.

Ekundayo further stressed that under her leadership, the NSCDC will intensify its efforts to protect both lives and critical national infrastructure throughout Ogun State. “The Corps will not relent in its efforts to ensure adequate protection for critical national assets and infrastructure while also safeguarding the lives and property of citizens,” she affirmed.

The handover event included the commissioning of a new tactical base along the Interchange axis of the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway. This facility, constructed by Mr. Ifeanyi Imuseh of V-Peg Energy and Gas as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aims to enhance security monitoring in the surrounding area.

Addressing officers assigned to the new base, Ekundayo urged them to make full use of the facility to maintain security within the local community and surrounding areas. Ogonnaya explained, “During the unveiling of the tactical base, ACG Ojelabi called on the deployed officers to ensure that the CSR project is effectively utilized for the benefit of all and to extend their vigilance to neighboring communities.”

The ceremony underscored the Corps’ ongoing commitment to safety and security in Ogun State, with Ekundayo taking the lead to ensure continued protection and effective community engagement.
