Ogun State So-Safe Corps has distanced itself fron a fabricated media publication indicting that So-Safe Corps illegally shot a young boy identified as Sultan Ajobi in Abeokuta,Ogun State.
This was said in a press release made available to our correspondent in Abeokuta by ACC Moruf Yusuf, Director of Information and Public Relations for Ogun State So-Safe Corps.
So-Safe Director of Information stated that the attention of the security outfit was drawn to a release dated February 6th 2020 in a news published by Falcon Times online news platform alleging the So-Safe Corps of shooting the aforementioned victim between the hours of 10 and 11a.m at old Odo-Eran filed, Ijaye Abeokuta.
The release further stated that So-Safe claims no knowledge of the incident as SARS denied involvement in such operation especially in the area mentioned in the publication.”
The statement was further elaborated in the later content of the story thus; two So-Safe Corps blocked him as he narrowly escaped them, the one pursuing him shot him.
ACC Moruf Yusuf said that it is of essence for the Corps to separate lies from the truth and put the record straight through this medium.
He said, “So-Safe Corps is an Ogun State Government legislated indigenous Security Outfit established to cater for security of lives and property of everybody in the State and it is never an over statement that we complement the conventional Security Agencies in the State to ensure that peace remains intact.”
“The date quoted in the story dated Sunday 2nd February, 2020 was a day an unarmed gallantry section of the So-Safe Corps demonstrated a rare skill in security industry as the joint effort of the section and the other was fruitful and the team apprehended a notorious No. 1 Aye Confraternity who has been declared wanted for long by the Ogun State Police Headquarters, F-SARS and the Anti-Cultism Section.”
The suspected apprehended head of a Cult group called Doyin was traced to Odo-Eran Ijaye where we were informed by a reliable source that he and his team has fired to meet for their deadly discussions at the scene of arrest.”
“On that faithful day, the suspect and his team were chased to a tight corner. He was arrested and two (2) among the rest of the group were shooting at our Officers to resist arrest and the team decided to hold on to the apprehended leader and to later reinforce to trace other culprit.”
The So-Safe Corps later decided to go after one of the team shooting at them with a locally made pistol who later escaped and the pistol fell from his hand.”
The release further added that before So-Safe Corps Officers’ left the scene of the crime a woman notified the team that while our Officers were chasing those ones shooting, the cultist misfired one of their main gang member.
ACC Moruf Yusuf added that the wanted notorious leader of the group, the recovered locally made pistol and one of the cult boys misfired on the shoulder by the cult group were transferred to the F-SARS, Magbon for further investigation and likely prosecution.
He noted that It is no more a news that the cult groups deadly rivalry activities has raised his ugly head in the state again and the So-Safe as the close Security Outfit to our various Community are strategizing seriously to ensure Peace is restored.
He added that on Saturday 1st/2nd February, 2020 the shocking news of the strike of these deadly rivals of the cult groups left a man dead at Ilugun and that Communities like Elega, Ago-Ika, Lafenwa, Rounder and Ijaye are now becoming a place of hibernation for these deadly cult groups.
He implored all the critical stakeholders not to relent in their efforts in giving Security Agencies good information about crime as the efforts to make continuous crime fight is in progress.
