Quarry stakeholders on Wednesday protested increment in price of granite in Abeokuta, Ishara and others.
It was gathered that the quarry product which was at N5,200 now sells at N8,500, with a difference margin of N3,300.
Against the dictate of other quarries in the state, the Abeokuta, Ishara and Remo quarries of state were reported to have hiked the price of the commodity.
Speaking with our reporter, Chairman Nigerian Union of Mine Workers (NUMW) Ogun State, Alhaji Fasiu Alao explained that the protest is to let the chinese men at the quarry know that the quarry product sellers, haulers and transporters are displeased with the sudden increment in price of granite.
The chairman who described the increment as “outrageous” explained further that if there would be any form of increment, then it should be gradual and reasonable.
He said, “we are not saying that they should no increase the price of the product, but it has to be reasonable and gra
