The pioneer chief Iman of Olabisi Onabanjo University muslim Community, Professor Kamaldeen Balogun has been described as a trust worthy, dedicated, pious and conscientious man.
Giving the accolades at the Retirement ceremony in Honour of the professor and the turbaning of new Chief Imam, Dr. Abdulhakeem Adebayo Adisa Akanni, held at OGD hall, OOU main campus Ago iwoye, ogun state Deputy Governor Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele added that whatever the muslim community is today is a result of the foundation laid by the Islamic Scholar.
Engr Salako-Oyedele noted that as an iman of 37 years, his leadership and forthrightness had impacted lives positively.
“As an iman of almost forty years one can only imagine the number of lives he has impacted, his humility and gentleness may belie the strength of the man, but the result is everywhere for everyone to see and judge” She said.
While praying to Almighty Allah for more long life and good health for the revered scholar, she congratulated the new Chief Iman admonishing him to follow in the good footsteps that his predecessor is leaving behind.
In his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, Senator Sefiu Adegbenga Kaka, congratulated the honouree, saying his 37 years as the pioneer Chief Imam of OOU has brought about development not only in the Muslim community but also in the school at large.
While commending his steadfast commitment to duty, focus, alongside dedication to the teaching and propagation of Islam, he said many were Born and bread in the religion but have derailed.
Also Speaking, the Vice Chancellor of OOU and chief host, Professor Ganiyu Olatunde, appreciated Almighty Allah for his benevolence in the life of the celebrant, saying the contributions of Prof Balogun to academics and the muslim community of OOU has not only brought development to the institution, but has also been a guiding light to many in Ago-Iwoye Town if not Ogun State as a whole.
Highlight of the event were tributes from friends, families, host community, citations from the holy quran and launching of a book on the honouree.
