President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after attending the 6th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union in Accra, Ghana.
The President, who is also the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Sunday evening.
During the meeting, President Tinubu provided updates on ECOWAS’ developments, highlighting achievements and challenges.
He showcased progress in counter-terrorism, electoral support, economic integration, humanitarian efforts, education, health, energy, mines, and agriculture.
The President also acknowledged challenges facing the bloc, including terrorism, food insecurity, climate change, and misinformation.
On the sidelines of the meeting, President Tinubu held a bilateral meeting with President Ismail Guelleh of Djibouti, agreeing to continue advancing bilateral interests.
He was received at the airport by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and other senior government officials.
President Tinubu’s participation in the AU meeting demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to regional and continental cooperation, and his leadership role in ECOWAS.
The meeting’s outcomes are expected to shape the region’s future and strengthen collaboration among member states.
