Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu met with traditional rulers from across the country at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, cabinet members, security officials, and prominent traditional rulers, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar III, and the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The reason for the meeting was not immediately disclosed, but sources suggest it may be related to the planned protest against economic hardship in the country, scheduled for August 1.

The United Nations has warned of potential violence if certain groups with ulterior interests hijack the protest.

State governors have urged residents not to participate in the protest, citing concerns about safety and security.

The meeting between President Tinubu and traditional rulers is seen as an effort to address the concerns of the protesters and find a peaceful resolution to the economic challenges facing the nation.

Details of the meeting’s outcome are yet to be released, but it is expected that the president and traditional rulers will issue a joint statement soon.
