Police Rescue 12 women from a suspected baby-making factory in Ogun

Police in Ogun State have rescued 12 young women, including six heavily pregnant ones, from a suspected baby-making factory.

The baby factory was uncovered at Imedu Olori area of Mowe in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.

Three suspects, including a female and two males, were also arrested in connection with the case.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident in a statement Thursday, disclosed that one of the inmates who escaped from the illegal home reported to the police.

Oyeyemi said the lucky inmate claimed that the alleged female owner of the baby-making factory identified as Florence Ogbonna lured her into the home.

According to him, the owner used to contract the services of able-bodied men to sleep with and impregnate the inmates.

After the pregnant inmates are delivered, their babies are allegedly taken away by the suspected owner, Oyeyemi said.

The police spokesman revealed that 12 ladies between the ages of 20 and 25 years were rescued by detectives from the baby factory.

He said: “A suspected baby making home was on 28th of February, 2020 discovered at Imedu Olori area of Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local government area of the state.

“The illegal baby factory was discovered when one of the inmate who escaped from the home reported at Mowe police station that she was lured into the home and held captive there for some time now.

“She stated that the owner of the criminal home, one Florence Ogbonna, who lured her into the home, usually contract the service of some able-bodied men to sleep with them and impregnate them, and immediately any of them gave birth to a baby, such baby will be taken away by the said Florence Ogbonna to only God knows place.

“Upon her report, the DPO Mowe division SP Marvis Jayeola mobilized his detectives to the scene where 12 ladies between the ages of 20-25years were rescued with six amongst them heavily pregnant.

“Three suspects namely Florence Ogbonna, Chibuke Akabueze, and Chibuzor Okafor were arrested in connection to the case.”
