The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has withdrawn 30 inspectors and rank and file personnel from their assignments with Very Important Personalities (VIPs) ahead of the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests.

This move is part of a broader strategy to manage potential unrest and ensure public safety during the upcoming demonstrations.

According to a memo dated July 29, 2024, signed by SP Anas Mohammed, S/O DOPS (Department of Operations, SHQ Owerri), with reference number AB: 4087/IMS/DOPS/SO/VOL.1/443, the affected officers have been directed to report to the office by Thursday, August 1, 2024.

The memo emphasized the urgency and importance of this redeployment, noting it was in direct response to the anticipated protests against bad governance.

The redeployed officers will be reassigned to various locations and duties, including APC chairman, Star Arrival, Fendoz, and Olisleek. Under “SUB.2: Special Duty,” the officers have been instructed to report in clean service dress until a stand-down order is given.

A comprehensive list of the withdrawn officers was sighted by newsmen, indicating a strategic shift in focus towards maintaining order and ensuring public safety during the #EndBadGovernance protests.

The NPF’s decision to recall officers from VIP duty reflects a proactive approach to addressing potential unrest and engaging with the public.”
