Police arrest two suspected armed robber, recover arms in Anambra

The police in Anambra says it have arrested two suspected armed robbers and serial rapists Chukwuma Diji who is 35-years-old and Michael Edochie a 31-year-old who allegedly raped a married woman at Obinagu/Abagana last year and fled the community to evade arrest when security operatives attempted to arrest them.

The command in a statement by its spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga made available to our correspondent, said the suspects were arrested in the early hours of Sunday 15th June by police operatives attached to Abagana division.

According to the police, the suspects were said to have broke into an apartment belonging to a young lady and raped her and her friend at gunpoint during the week, as they forced the victims to transfer money into their account after taking their time to have sex with them.

The suspects were said to have confessed to the crime as the Anambra state police commissioner CP Nnaghe Itam ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department for a comprehensive investigation with a view to getting justice for the victims.

Items recovered from the suspects include two locally made double barrel guns, one locally made single barrel gun, six cartridges and one motorcycle.
