Jonathan Arin, a 27-year-old resident of Anguwan Rukuba, recently explained his decision to turn to local gun fabrication after struggling to find employment post-graduation.

Arin, who was presented to the public alongside alleged accomplices by the state police command on Wednesday, attributed his choice partly to the economic strain he faced from prolonged joblessness, despite applying for numerous positions, including one with the police.

“After my graduation, I couldn’t secure any job. I became a liability to my father because he was the one feeding me. So, this was disturbing and frustrating,” Arin explained.

He added that crime in his community played a role in his choice, stating, “Apart from that, there are lots of crimes being witnessed in my community. We had been trying to see how we could end the problem. So, I felt I could contribute to fight the crime. That is why I found myself in the business.”

State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, who led the presentation of Arin and his three alleged associates, described their apprehension by the command’s Eagle Eye Patrol Unit (EEPU). “On 16/10/2024 at about 7 a.m., while acting upon credible intelligence, the command’s Eagle Eye Patrol Unit (EEPU) arrested one Jonathan Arin (27), one Moses Festus (27), Sambo Audu (30), Nehemiah Yakubu (25), all male of Angwan Rukuba, Jos.”

Adesina further disclosed, “The suspects were arrested in possession of locally fabricated rifles, pistols, and other dangerous tools and equipment used in the fabrication of firearms.”
