ASP Hassan revealed that intensified efforts to combat crime across Kaduna led to raids on black spots, resulting in the arrest of over 350 additional suspects.
“These coordinated operations have significantly disrupted criminal activities in the state,” he said.
The police command also reported the recovery of five AK-47 rifles, two pistols, one submachine gun, 283 rustled cows, 20 sheep, and 105 rounds of live ammunition. Additionally, 102 kidnap victims were rescued, with 89 of them saved during a recent operation.
“On November 24, 2024, we received a distress call about armed bandits attempting to abduct farmers harvesting beans in Idasu Village, Kidandan, Giwa Local Government Area. Combined teams of Police Mobile Force and Conventional Policemen were mobilized to the scene and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle. The assailants fled into the forest with severe gunshot wounds,” ASP Hassan disclosed.
During the operation, 89 victims were rescued, and a fabricated AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition was recovered. “The rescued victims have been reunited with their families, while one police officer sustained a bullet wound and is receiving treatment,” he added.
Further highlighting the command’s efforts, ASP Hassan reported a targeted operation conducted by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit on November 13, 2024, at Gidan Sani in the Jere area of Kagarko Local Government. The operation led to the arrest of a 25-year-old suspect, Isa Saidu, for alleged arms trafficking and other crimes.
“A search of the suspect’s residence uncovered a fabricated submachine gun (SMG). Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court upon completion,” he said.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents, while urging the public to cooperate by reporting suspicious activities promptly.
