Pelican Valley CEO, Ambassador Babatunde Adeyemo, recently visited the family of the late Charles Gyamfi, a former correspondent for The Guardian and a member of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), offering both condolences and substantial support.

Gyamfi, a highly respected figure in the journalism profession, was described by Adeyemo as a “leader and mentor to many.”

During the visit, Adeyemo pledged to provide the widow, Mrs. Gifty Gyamfi, with a monthly stipend and free medical care for 12 months, an initiative that underscores his commitment to alleviating the family’s burden during this difficult period.

Beyond these personal contributions, his Oko-Opo Foundation donated food items to assist with domestic and burial expenses, further exemplifying his humanitarian efforts.

While addressing the family, Adeyemo offered words of comfort, encouraging them to find solace in the meaningful life that the late Mr. Gyamfi had lived.

“He lived a fulfilled life,” Adeyemo said, urging the family, particularly Mrs. Gifty Gyamfi, to stay strong and uphold the family’s stability, as this would be the most fitting way to honor Gyamfi’s legacy.

Signing the condolence register, Adeyemo wrote, “Baba was a peace-loving man of virtue and a role model to all of us. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”

Adeyemo was accompanied to the family’s Abeokuta residence by members of his Pelican Valley team, along with Mr. Kunle Olayeni, a former chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Ogun NUJ. Olayeni also shared a close professional relationship with Gyamfi.

On behalf of the family, Mr. Albert Yartey expressed deep gratitude for Pelican Valley’s support, describing the gestures as unforgettable.

He shared that the late Charles Gyamfi had left explicit instructions regarding his final resting place, and the family would faithfully “abide by it,” ensuring that his last wishes are respected.
