The Oyo State government has started paying gratuities to retirees through e-payment, ensuring a seamless and secure process.
The state’s Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Hon Olusegun Olayiwola, announced this during a three-day symbolic data capturing and e-payment exercise for retirees in Ibadan.
The initiative will capture and validate retirees’ data from June 2014 to December 2014 and June 2019 to December 2019, with arrangements in place to capture other retirees’ data promptly.
Olayiwola assured pensioners that Governor Seyi Makinde is committed to improving the lives of retirees and citizens in the state.
The state secretary of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Dr. Olusegun Abatan, highlighted the benefits of e-payment, including enhanced security, accuracy, and speed in gratuity distribution.
He praised Governor Makinde for prompt disbursement of funds for retirees’ gratuities since 2019.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Olajide Okesade, thanked Governor Makinde, the Head of Service, and the Commissioner for consistently disbursing wage awards and other dividends to retirees and civil servants.
He emphasized the benefits of e-payment, including increased security, faster access to funds, and elimination of risks associated with physical checks.
