Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared August 20 as a work-free day to celebrate Isese Day 2024.

The declaration was made through a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo.

According to a statement released by the governor’s Special Adviser (Media), Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on Wednesday, the work-free day is in line with Governor Makinde’s earlier announcement that August 20 would be observed annually as a work-free day in honor of Isese Day.

The circular encourages traditional worshippers and all citizens to use the day for prayers dedicated to the peace, unity, and stability of both the state and the nation.

With this declaration, all workers in Oyo State are expected to stay away from work on August 20 to join in the celebrations and prayers marking Isese Day 2024.
