A shocking case unfolded in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday as two men, Adekunle Fatai, 40, and Sabitu Kolapo, 33, were remanded in a correctional facility for their alleged involvement in a gruesome crime.
The defendants are accused of cutting off the left breast of a deceased woman, Oyindamola Olosunde, and unlawfully possessing a firearm. They face charges of conspiracy, interfering with a corpse, and unlawful possession of firearms.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Tellang, the alleged offenses occurred on July 13 at Gbedun village, Ibadan.
The defendants allegedly conspired to exhume Olosunde’s body and mutilate it, while also possessing a gun without lawful authority.
The Magistrate, Mrs. M. Olagbenro, declined to take their plea due to lack of jurisdiction and directed the police to seek legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution. The case has been adjourned until October 29.
The Magistrate said the alleged offenses contravene various sections of the Robbery and Firearms Laws of Nigeria, 2004, and the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
