In a proactive move towards addressing the aftermath of a recent heavy rainfall incident, the Owaloko of Iloko Ijesa, Alayeluwa Oba Dr. Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, extended a warm welcome to officers from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) within the community today.

The rainfall, which occurred on March 18th of this year, prompted the collaborative efforts of the Owaloko and NEMA officials to assess the extent of damage and provide necessary assistance to affected residents.

Accompanied by his team, Oba Akeem guided the NEMA representatives through various sites affected by the incident, including Osowusi School, Ayara Street, L.A Primary School, Anaye Street, Ogbon Titun Street, Redeem Church Of God, Araromi Street, Civil Center along Ilesa road, and Iloro Street. The tour aimed to familiarize the agency with the situation on the ground and explore avenues for support.

Expressing concern for the affected citizens, Mr. Olarewaju, the team leader from NEMA, acknowledged the gravity of the situation and pledged a swift response to alleviate the community’s plight. While acknowledging limitations in funding, NEMA assured the Owaloko of their commitment to providing whatever assistance possible to the town.

In response, Oba Akeem expressed gratitude to the agency for their prompt attention to the community’s needs amidst their busy schedules. He also thanked divine providence for sparing the community from casualties during the rainfall incident.

As both parties continue to collaborate, the residents of Iloko Ijesa remain hopeful for the timely support promised by NEMA, underscoring the importance of community resilience and government intervention in times of crisis.
