Owaloko Emerges President of Ijesa North Council Of Obas

The Owaloko of Iloko Ijesa, Oba (Dr) Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, has emerged as the new President of the Ijesa North Council of Traditional Rulers.

Oba Dr. Adeleke Agunbiade Oke, the Ajalaye of Ipetu-Ijesa, steps down as the President of the council after serving his two-year term following the emergence of new President.

The new Ijesa North Council of Obas president will serve a two-year term.

The Owaloko serves as the rotational vice president of the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers.

Oba Akeem is a member of the advertising and marketing communications team at Ogilvy Benson & Matter Nigeria Limited (OBM), Yaba, Lagos. He previously worked at Impact Corporate & Product Promotions Limited in 1988.

He rose through ranks at Ogilvy, from Trainee Media Executive to Group Head, Client Service and Media.

Having gathered more than enough experience, Oba Ogungbangbe resigned from Ogilvy Benson & Matter Nigeria Limited in year 2000 to float his own company.

He is currently a founder, co-founder, and key investor in a growing set of businesses in the advertising industry. Electronic printing. Transportation/logistics, hospitality, and agriculture.

He is a registered Member of The Advertising Practitioner Council of Nigeria (APCON).

He is a fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing of Nigeria. An Honourary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON), ascended the Owaloko throne in 2021 after the late Aloko, Oba Oladele Olashore, joined his ancestors.

The first class monarch confirmed his appointment to the prestigious position by Ijesa North Obas on Thursday afternoon.

Oba Akeem described the president of Ijesa North Council of Obas as a “huge responsibility” which he promised to discharge to the best of his ability.

During his reign, the king promised to uphold peace, progress, and development in Osun State and Ijesa North as a whole with the help of his previous expertise as a diplomat.

Oba Akeem also thanked the other Ijesa North obas for recognizing his suitability for the position and vowed to uphold their expectations as well as that of the people of Ijesa North and Osun State.

He enlisted the help of other traditional leaders, the state administration, and other parties in his new task
