Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has announced the commencement of a top-up program for holders of Higher National Diplomas (HND), enabling them to earn a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree.
The program, which spans six semesters over a duration of 24 months, aims to provide accessible higher education opportunities in various disciplines such as Accounting, Building, and Sociology.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony for 233 part-time students, UNIOSUN’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement O. Adebooye, highlighted the significance of the new initiative.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for academic research, innovation, and partnership, Professor Adetunji Kehinde, he affirmed the university’s commitment to delivering quality education tailored to the needs of professionals seeking to advance their qualifications.
“I am pleased to announce that our University now offers a top-up programme that allows holders of Higher National Diplomas (HND) to earn a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in just 24 months, spanning six semesters.
This initiative is available in various fields, including Accounting, Building, Sociology, and other disciplines offered by the University,” Professor Kehinde stated.
The Vice-Chancellor further emphasized UNIOSUN’s zero-tolerance stance on negative behaviors such as examination malpractice, cultism, and other forms of misconduct.
“Let me be unequivocal: any student found engaging in negative vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, or other forms of misconduct will face the full weight of disciplinary action, including possible dismissal from the University,” he warned.
While addressing the new part-time students, many of whom are balancing work, family, and education, the Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence in their ability to exhibit discipline and focus on their academic goals.
He noted, “As part-time students, many of whom are matured individuals juggling multiple responsibilities, I am confident that you will exemplify good behavior and remain focused on your academic goals.”
