Osun Governor, Oyetola pledges continued support for NYSC

Governor, State of Osun Mr. Gboyega Oyetola says his administration would continue to give necessary support to the National Youths Service Corps for the success of the scheme at all time.

He also assured that the welfare and safety of the Corps members serving in Osun would always be given priority and desired attention by his administration.

Governor Oyetola gave the assurance on Thursday at the passing out ceremony for the 2019 Batch A Corps members held at the City Stadium, Osogbo, the state capital.

The Governor who spoke through his Deputy, Mr Benedict Alabi congratulated the corps members on their successful completion of one year service to their fatherland.

Mr. Oyetola used the occasion to acknowledge the patriotic zeal with which the 2019 Batch A of the National Youth Service Corps deployed to the state of Osun have served their fatherland by remaining resolute even in the face of daunting challenges.

He lauded them for living up to the dream of the founding fathers of the NYSC scheme conceived as a means of fostering national unity, enhancing national integration and providing socio economic development across the nation.

“I have no doubt that the NYSC Scheme is awakening us to the capabilities of our youths in the onerous task of nation-building. Your various contributions would remain monumental to the nation’s greatness. Equally, your social relations and other forms of mutual affiliations are the building blocks of national cohesion. So also, your sundry services to your host communities serve as a testimony to the worthy cause of the NYSC Scheme in the nation’s stability and greatness.

“From all indications, your distinguished service has greatly impacted on the socio-economic landscape of the State of Osun, especially in the rural communities where majority of you served. Let me assure you that the people of this State appreciate your immense contributions in the various communities, especially in the areas of education, healthcare delivery and agriculture.

“There is hardly any Community in the State where the presence of the Scheme is not felt”.

Governor Oyetola charged the 2019 batch A corps members who are passing out to discover themselves and use their potentials to become self dependent as they go into labour market.

He also called on them to shun all forms of anti social vices and pursue their lives’ aspiration and goals wisely.

“Compatriots in service, as you embark on the next stage of personal development, it is expected that, having identified your potentials, you would discover opportunities for your breakthrough and personal fulfilment. I hereby charge you to be employers of labour and not job seekers”, Governor Oyetola added.

The NYSC State Coordinator Mr. Ayodele Adegoke in his farewell address disclosed that a total of two thousand, three hundred corp members successful completed the service year and would be issued the certificate of national service.

He further revealed that nine absconded and seven have their services extended for various misconduct which contravenes the provisions of the NYSC Act.
