OPINION: SANUSI LAMIDO TRAVAIL: REINFORMING THE ILL-INFORMED

Date:

Reading time: 3 Minutes

There is an unpleasant culture common to majority of Nigerians, the belief that saying the right thing is the same as doing the right thing, this belief is totally untrue and also detrimental to the progress of any society.

Well, numbers of people give accolades to the dethroned King of the North because they think he speaks the truth to power. His recent attacks on Northern Culture of Almajirism and polygamy made him to be endeared to some people, most especially the elites from the Southern part of Nigeria.

They felt Sanusi is challenging the unproductive and inhumane status quo that has encouraged poverty and illiteracy in the North, because of what Sanusi is saying, some persons are already taunting him to be the next President of Nigeria. What a people?.

Nigerians can be carried away with mere grandiloquence, their fixation with hot air can only explain the reason why we are where we are. Anyone could come from anywhere and use sweet talks to awash the ever waiting gullibles, they don’t care whether you walk the talk, they always find succour only in the oral ejaculation.

Dethroned Emir Sanusi Lamido has been around the corridors of power for years, in fact, he was once a custodian of Nigeria treasury for years as CBN Governor, without mincing words, Sanusi Lamido is full of affluence and opulence.

Six years down the lane as the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido never abandoned his antics, with every given opportunity, he condemned the culture of wandering aimlessly, he laments about the daily increment of the out of school children, poverty and illiteracy in the North, but I’ve never read or heard him laying a stone on others with his money to help ameliorate the situation.

Is Sanusi not rich enough to build Mega-Schools for the Almajiris and other out of school children? Is Sanusi not wealthy enough to do genuine and serious empowerment for the unemployed youths?. The answer is that he is rich and wealthy enough to do many things with his money to help his people in Kano Metropolis. But the reason why he has done nothing over the years has crystally exposed his hypocrisy.

As at 2016, Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III had 3000 children that are not his biological children in schools across his Emirate, he was doing this with his foundation without making unnecessary noise. Also, Emir of Gummi in Zamfara has been empowering at least 200 youths per year in his Emirate since 2015 in an attempt to reduce poverty and unemployment. These are the royal fathers that deserve our sincere accolades not a supposed orator that plays with words just to screw our memories.

When the former President Goodluck Jonathan initiated the Alamjiri Education Policy, the Administration built about 140 schools adequately equipped with modern facilities and trained teachers, Sanusi Lamido as CBN Governor never mobilized his people nor spoke to support this laudable policy. Or was Almajiri menace not a problem to the North then?.

If you are carried away by the rhetorics, it is not too late to get informed and liberate your mind from the shackles of magniloquence. You own the posterity the duty of critical thinking so that you can make a decision that would be considered right and sane.

At the end, posterity wouldn’t remember the whole jibberish you have said, they would only remember the good things you have done. The speakers and hearers of the words have done nothing, but the people that are committed to act the words and put an end to the menace have done everything. Dethroned Emir Sanusi Lamido still has a role to play, he should use his riches and wealth to help eradicated the problems he preached against. If Emir of Gombe could sponsor 3000 out of school children, Dethroned Emir Sanusi can also sponsor 30,000 children on the street.
