In a recent campaign event ahead of the November 16 governorship election, Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, assured citizens that his administration has maintained the integrity of local government allocations since he took office.

He emphasized that this policy of non-interference has led to significant grassroots development throughout the state.

Speaking at the palace of the Yangede of Epe in the Ondo East local government area, Aiyedatiwa stated, “My administration is not touching the allocations going to the local governments. What belongs to them is going to them, and that is why they can effectively get the traditional rulers and other stakeholders involved in the scheme of things.”

His remarks came in response to the praise from traditional leaders and market representatives who acknowledged the restoration of their importance and empowerment at the local government level.

The governor noted that traditional rulers now receive their rightful entitlements, indicating that past mistakes have been rectified to foster local development.

Aiyedatiwa also highlighted his administration’s commitment to enhancing agriculture and promoting food security in Ondo State.

He promised to address the infrastructure needs, including fixing a five-kilometer township road, while assuring that he is attentive to the community’s concerns.

Earlier, Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, expressed the unwavering support of the Ondo East Local Government people for Aiyedatiwa.

During the event, Oba Isaac Oyebade, the Yangede of Epe, appealed for the elevation of the chieftaincy title, stressing Epe’s historical significance as a central hub for the Ekimogun-speaking communities.

He stated, “Historically, Epe is an ancient town that was home to all Ekimogun-speaking people today, including Idanre and Ile-Oluji. The town cannot be left out of the scheme of things. So, if other towns are upgraded, Epe should not be left out.”

At a town hall meeting in Bolorunduro, Chief Felix Kolawole, chairman of the Oloja association, commended Aiyedatiwa for the accomplishments achieved during his brief time in office.

Similarly, Chief Mrs. Nike Awosupin, a leader among the local market women, assured the governor of their support while urging him to address the repair of dilapidated roads to facilitate easier transportation of goods for farmers.
