The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo says the present strides being witnessed in the State are a result of the collective legacies and individual contributions of members of the Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries while in active service in the gateway State.
Oluomo stated this while members of the association paid a courtesy visit to the lawmakers at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Oluomo acknowledged the efforts of the founding fathers, who participated actively in laying the foundation of the State through the formulation of policies and plans for the overall development of the State; stressing that their selfless contributions had been a guiding path for the upcoming generation to consolidate on.
He added that the present efforts of the association including critical advices and holistic assessment of governance in the State were well appreciated by the present administration.
The Speaker assured them of the Assembly’s readiness to partner with the association in their various activities, soliciting their expertise at providing necessary support to the legislative service for effective service delivery.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Babatunde Sokoya said the association comprises of all former Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries, who had served in the State since its creation in 1976, with membership strength of 166.
Osokoya stated that the association remained committed to the promotion of good governance and progress of the State, adding that it had also contributed to the training and development of the workforce in the State, aside intervening severally in disputes between government and the labour unions.
