Olaleye Describes Co-operative Society Economic Engine Room Of The Nation, As Organization Offers Prayer For Members

The President of Ogun State Cooperative Federation Limited and Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye has described Co-operative society as the Economic engine of any country as they provide financial assistance to more than one quarter of MSMEs in states. 

Olaleye stated this during the co-operative’s annual interdenominational prayer session to herald the 2022 business activities of the society hele at its Secretariat in Asero area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. 

The President of the Co-operative, during an interview with newsmen pointed out that the Co-operative society was established in 1976 to foster the interest and harness the resources of members to enable them take the necessary steps to prevent any threats to their economic Independence. 

Olaleye stressed that co-operative societies remained the economic backbone of any nation as it finance more than a quarter of major small and medium businesses in the state. 

He said, “Co-operative society is the economic buffer to any country; we finance more than a quarter of major small and medium businesses in the state.

“And these data are not just from my hand but from survey conducted by GIZ, a German agency for international corporation working with the state.

“GIZ made a research conducted 2 years ago and it was specifically stated that about 26% of the business in the state are getting their finance from corporative society. This percentage of the people operating small business in the state, so it cannot be neglected,” he stated.

As part of its new year activities, OGSCOFED Limited also donated food items to children at the Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home in Abeokuta area of Ogun State.

Similarly, Olaleye also joined by the Children of late Mr. Ebenezer Olalekan Tunwase offered prayers at the tomb of the late OGSCOFED Secretary of Abeokuta Branch 1, who served for more than 8 years. 

Olaleye described late Tunwase as a strong campaigner that worked rigorously throughout his life time for him to become President. 

He said, ‘Mr. Ebenezer Olalekan Tunwase who died on September 2nd, 2019 was the Secretary of Abeokuta Branch 1 of the organization and served for more than eight years in that capacity”.

He initiated the movement of Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye to become the President of OGSCOFED and he campaigned for that throughout his life and thank God today that his desires was granted so I deem it fit to visit his tomb today alongside his children to offer prayers and that Almighty God will forgive his shortcomings, rest his soul, and also bless the children he left behind and make them great persons in life”, he concluded. 

Recall that Ogun State Co-operative Federation Limited at its 32nd Annual General Meeting held in December 2021 elected new Board of Directors to pilot the affairs of the organization where Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye emerged as the President.

Other Board of Directors were: Mrs. Adenike Ajayi from Remo Branch I of OGSCOFED Limited; Prophet (Dr). Emmanuel Abidemi Taiwo (JP) FICAM, HCGIC from Yewa South Branch of OGSCOFED Limited; Alhaji K. A. Sonde from Abeokuta Branch II of OGSCOFED Limited; Comrd. Tola Onafuye from Remo Branch II of OGSCOFED Limited; Elder T. A. Adesegun from Abeokuta Central Branch of OGSCOFED Limited; Mr. Julius Adekanmbi from Yewa North Branch of OGSCOFED Limited; Coop. Dr. Kayode Olusanya from Ijebu North Branch of OGSCOFED Limited; Pastor Olufemi Oluronbi from Ijebu Central Branch of OGSCOFED Limited.
