OGUNCCIMA Holds Retreat, Maps Out Strategy To Enhance Effective Chamber Management

The Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) recently held its 2021 retreat, the third in the series with the theme, “Access To Finance By Chamber Members”.

The 2-day retreat coupled with the Chambers Council meeting was hosted by Ota – Agbara Chamber of Commerce and declared opened by the President of OGUNCCIMA, Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye.

Alhaji Olaleye who welcomed all participants drawn from all the Five City Chambers of OGUNCCIMA said the retreat was designed to further find a lasting solution to various challenges affecting the progress and operation of the Chamber of Commerce Movement in the state.

He charged executives and members of all the Five City Chambers (ABEOCCIMA, YECCIMA, RECCIMA, IJECCIMA and OTAGCCIMA) of the need to pull resources together to achieve common goals.

While delivering on the theme of the retreat, “Access To Finance By Chamber Members”, Dr. Bunmi Kole Daodu from SMEDAN said Business Membership Organizations, MSMEs and a host of other business owners could latch on to different special intervention fund made available by Federal Government of Nigeria to build their business even as the effect of Covid-19 has greatly affected business operations.

Dr. Daodu said, “This FGN Special Intervention Funds is to provide subsidized loans to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)”

“These funds are also to cater for applications received from SMEDAN under the National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP) scheme”, he concluded.

On his part, Mr. Sherif Olaleye, an Economic Analyst gave a presentation on “OGUNCCIMA programmes Development Baseline Survey”, said the OGUNCCIMA programs development survey was carried out to adopt bottom-top approach to surmount the obstacles faced by members of the Chamber in the course of their business and its development.

He cited that the current OGUNCCIMA status was assessed along with its long standing programs also city chambers status.

Mr. Olaleye added that stakeholders were also surveyed for their own input towards programs development to further strengthen the relationship with them.

He however stated that in the course of the research, interesting facts were revealed and profound insights were gained along with corresponding recommendations about what the chambers of commerce movement could do to further help business operations and sustainability in the state.

The retreat also witnessed the presentation of the new OGUNCCIMA MEMART by Engr. Oluyomi Olutoye and adopted unanimously by members present at the event.

The retreat was however graced by Engr. Mike Akingbade (OTAGCCIMA), Engr. Oluyomi Olutoye (ABEOCCIMA), Mrs. Jumoke Akinlolu – Okoya (YECCIMA), Mr. Akinola Lawson (ABEOCCIMA), Evang. David Bello (OTAGCCIMA), Prince Bayo kujenyo (IJEBUCCIMA), Sir. Jare Oyesola (ABEOCCIMA), Otunba A. Babs Adesanya (ABEOCCIMA), Mr. Timothy Shorunke (ABEOCCIMA), Mr. Wakeel Olaniyan (Ag. OGUNCCIMA Secretary General), Otunba Wasiu (YECCIMA) and Lion Cynthia Saka (OTAGCCIMA) among others.
