…Harps On Skill Based Knowledge For Youth Employability
The Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) on Wednesday held its 37th Annual General Meeting at the Chamber’s Secretariat, MKO Abiola Trade Fair Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
It would be recalled that OGUNCCIMA on the 24th of July, 2020 inaugurated new executives led by Alhaji Wasiu Babatunde Olaleye as the 18th President of the Chamber.
The President of the Chamber in his speech appreciated Almighty God for His protection that enabled the Chamber to witness another AGM, he equally thanked the Executive Committee and Council as well as the entire members of the Chambers for their support and contribution towards quality services to members and business community.
While highlighting the Chamber’s achievements in the year under review, the President noted that OGUNCCIMA has remained the force to reckon with in drive of Dual Vocational Training (DVT) in Ogun State. He noted further that the training has provided knowledge and skills for employment for the youth as OGUNCCIMA has continued to interface with private sector and government to build the needed system for vocational education which would transform the state into self-reliance entrepreneurs.
The President said, “OGUNCCIMA have been hosting trade fair in the state for over two decades now. This has always provided members with products to showcase their brands to large-scale companies in the country and to also have access to market patronage in the state.”
“I am happy to inform this gathering that the 10th Gateway International Trade Fair was basically designed for firms within the state and outside to exhibit their products and services to the residents and beyond.
Several preparations were made towards the successful execution of the fair. Part of it includes placements of advertisement online through the use of social media (Facebook and YouTube), online streaming of the 10th International Gateway Trade Fair via YouTube channel and Facebook page and lastly, setting up data collection desk for data and opinion collection for the purpose of assessment and Future planning, he added.
The President assured that OGUNCCIMA as voice of business owners in the state will continue to work with the Ogun State Government towards the promotion of Public – Private Partnership that can drive industrial development, friendly environment, and promotion of MSMEs in the state.
He concluded that OGUNCCIMA will ensure that the robust working relationship with the Ogun State Government is sustained as the results of the relationship with the government have ensured the reconstruction of the trade fair perimeter fence earlier demolished to pave way for the rail line and the installation of a new 500KVA Transformer at the center.
The Annual General Meeting also witnessed Presentation of Annual Report, review of the year’s activities, presentation of the treasurer’s and auditor’s reports and it was graced by representatives of OGUNCCIMA from all its five city Chambers.
