Taidob College has won four awards after picking the ticket to represent Nigeria at the just-concluded 2019 Junior Achievement Company of year competition in Accra, Ghana.
The feat came after the College emerged overall winner among 12 Secondary School Companies across different zones in Nigeria, organised by Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN).
Taidob College through its TC Achievers, won the award with the invention of a gas leakage detector – a device which raises alarm and sends SMS to the owner.
According to the young innovators, it would solve the problem of fire outbreaks due to gas leakages in homes, offices and industries.
Sponsors of the award, Firstbank Plc through its Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Mrs. Folake Ani-Mumuney commended the students for making Nigeria and Nigerians proud with an innovation meant to save lives.
Nigeria’s Taidob College located in Asero Estate, Abeokuta, Ogun State competed against schools from Swaziland, Ghana, Zambia, Gabon, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Maritius, Bostwana, Kenya and South Africa to emerge 2nd runners up, winning the Client Focus, Enterprenurship Spirit and African Best Facilitator of the Year Awards.
In separate reactions at a dinner held at Ceasers Hotel and Suites, Ibara GRA Abeokuta in honour of the awardees, the Principal of Taidob College Mrs. H. O. Jiboku and Director, Mr. Obawunmi Jiboku lauded the students’ creativity and charged them not to rest on thier oars, reaffirming the committment of the 25-year-old College to a conducive environment for sound morals and academics as well as promotion of entreprenurship skills.
