In a move to alleviate the impact of the recent fuel price hike on public servants, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved two (2) days off-duty per week for Officers on Grade Level 01 – 14

This decision, contained in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, is aimed at providing relief to public servants facing commuting challenges and enhancing their service delivery.

The circular, dated September 11, 2024, directs all Accounting Officers to implement the policy initiative immediately, ensuring that service delivery is not compromised. Officers on Grade Level 15-17 will maintain their existing one-day off-duty per week.

This gesture is expected to bring substantial relief to public servants and motivate them to deliver quality services. The state government has urged all relevant authorities to give the content of this Circular the widest publicity it deserves.

The approval is a response to the upward review of the pump price of petrol, which has significantly impacted transportation costs and the general standard of living. By granting two days off-duty per week, the government hopes to ameliorate the burden on public servants and enhance their overall well-being.
