The Ogun state pcrc Chairman, High Chief Samson Kunle Popoola jp has advocated for an improved front desk for the police commonly called the “charge room”.
The chairman advocated for this at the just concluded Pcrc capacity building workshop for the Zone7 command of the Police comprising of FCT and Niger state commands held at the National university commission auditorium, Abuja.
According to him the most of the negative perception of the police occur as a result of unprofessional handling of the public making complaint or reporting a crime. He called for more public relation practitioners and experienced officers to take up the manning of the front desk to further improve the image of the police among the public.
He called for a more welcoming environment around the front desk with conviniences to make it more inviting to the people.
Other contributors at the workshop called for an improved synergy, better welfare and improved funding for the police, they also make a case for more respect for our police officers as well as better understanding of the very horrific political and economic conditions under which they operate.
The workshop was a roll call of ‘who is who’ from the various Security apparatus in the country.
