The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Council has felicitated Aremo Olusegun Osoba, former governor of Ogun state and a quintessential journalist of repute on the occasion of his 84th birthday.
In a press statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade ‘Wale Olanrewaju and Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, the Union describes the Akinrogun of Egbaland as a true democrat and a highly respected elderstateman whose contribution to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria cannot be overemphasized.
Aremo Osoba has demonstrated that one’s influence and service to humanity goes beyond the paraphernalia of political office, the reason his dedication to service of humanity and purposeful governance has taken the center of his 84 years on earth.
Aremo Osoba’s journalistic journey spanning over six decades, further remains his selling point, not only in politics but journalism, his chosen profession, where he has made remarkable contributions to the media industry as a respected journalist and media manager, using the power of the press to influence positive changes in the country’s social and political landscape first, as a reporter, editor and later managing director in different media organisations.
As one of the performing governors who delivered dividends of democracy to the populace during the days of Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Alliance for Democracy (AD) in South-West, Aremo Osoba’s impeccable records for rural integration in the State was a testament to his dream of an egalitarian society that works as he was able to set the right template for rural development and its economic growth when he was the governor.
We wish him more glorious years ahead laced with more purposeful leadership and unprecedented records of achievements in the service of humanity and the nation at large.
