Ogun State Ministry of Forestry says it is committed to embarking on massive plantation of trees this year in line with the budget objectives of the Ministry for 2023 financial year.
The Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Engr. Oludotun Taiwo, gave the assurance, while leading the Management Team from the Ministry to speak on the performance of the Ministry between January and March 2023 during the ongoing budget performance appraisal by the House Committee on Agriculture and Forestry Chaired by Hon. Sylvester Abiodun.
Engr. Taiwo, who presented the Ministry’s record of performance between January and March 2023, stated that the Ministry was working hard on how to improve on its revenue and boost its afforestation programmes.
The Commissioner added that the Ministry had generated over N80.7m within the period under review, while recurrent expenditure for the period stood at N125.2m.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Abiodun enjoined the Ministry to improve on its revenue drive without inflicting unnecessary hardship on the people .
Also, the State Forestry Plantation Project, Area-J4 had its budget performance appraised by the State lawmakers.
