Ogun State Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives says it will set out more measures to further encourage and empower Community Development Associations through improved capacity building and grant-in-aids for rural and urban transformation during the 2023 fiscal year.

The Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Mr. Abayomi Hunye disclosed this before the members of the State House of Assembly at the commencement of the 2023 Budget Defence , held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Hunye added that the Ministry was committed to providing more micro-credit to cooperative societies and trade associations for enhanced business activities to promote self reliance, while mobilizing the CDAs, Cooperative Societies and trade associations as agents of grassroot development and economic empowerment.

To achieve the foregoing, the Commissioner proposed a total budget of N971.1m, out of which N255.3m would cater for capital projects and the remaining N715.7m for recurrent expenditure, with expected revenue put at N34.4m.

Reeling out the 2022 Ministry’s budget performance, Hunye, who said 64.7% revenue performance was achieved, reaffirmed that the Ministry would sustain the existing enabling environment for all stakeholders to effectively serve as bridge between the State, Local Government and the people to engender accelerated development in the State.

Contributing, the lawmakers in their respective remarks implored the Ministry to ensure a budget implementation that would be purpose driven in line with the societal needs.

The Lawmakers equally examined the budget proposals of the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Youth and Sports and their allied agencies.
