Reports have emerged that local government council chairmen in Ogun state last weekend rejected car gifts presented to them by Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Governor Abiodun on April 2, 2023, presented 20 units of Mikano 2006 motors to all chairmen of the 20 local government areas in recognition of their steadfastness at the guber polls, but reports have it that the chairmen rejected the gift and left the Ogun state government house, Isale Igbehin, Abeokuta disappointed.

According to our source who pleaded anonymity, 3 council chairmen who spoke on behalf of others maintained that the cars were below standard and not enough to compensate them in view of “all they have done” for the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration; hence, they all rejected the vehicles and left in open annoyance.

According to one of the chairmen at the venue, “Your Excellency, I know of Lexus, Honda, Sonata and so on. The Mikano that I know is the diesel generator. It’s important that you begin to treat us like one of your own if we really mean it sir”.

Another chairman who couldn’t hide his displeasure left the government house before the whole scenero ended, he was heard aloud stating how bad the chairmen can’t afford anything for themselves and leaders of the party.

Another council chairman who is reportedly close to the governor got so angry and spoke about how motor parks managers and other transport union chairmen are doing better than the “elected” council chairmen under the watch of Dapo Abiodun administration.

Events around Ogun state government house earlier today have, once again confirmed an increasing dissatisfaction from other stakeholders in government circle.
