Ogun Lands Bureau Issues 3,000 C of O To Applicants

Concerned by the need to sustain the provision of quality services in the allocation of land title documents, the Ogun State Government through the Bureau of Lands and Survey says it has so far issued additional 3, 000 Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) out of the 3,123 applications to qualified applicants whose applications were initiated by the immediate past administration.

The Director General/ Special Adviser to the Governor in charge of the Bureau disclosed this while presenting the 2021 budget of the Bureau before the members of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Aina Salami at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He explained that the Bureau had been working with all concerned agencies to ensure that the backlogs of applications for title documents were being cleared having contacted those with various queries discovered during inspection.

On the 2021 budget, Salami presented a total budget estimate of N974m comprising of N524.9m for capital projects and the remaining N449m for recurrent expenditure, while expected revenue was fixed at N10bn.

In another development, the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL Odulami Olatunji presented the 2021 budget proposal of the ministry, with an affirmation that the it would be better repositioned in the next fiscal year. This, he noted would be achieved with more stringent measures and strategies towards strengthening existing and enforcing physical planning regulations in communities across the State.

Odulami noted that such measures was aimed at promoting an orderly and pleasing environment for good living, working condition and recreation in line with the mission of the present administration.

He explained thatmall the initiatives would be improved upon to ensure that builders and property developer erecting new structures in the State comply with regulations, adding that technological infrastructure was being deployed to ensure effective monitoring and adherence to the regulations through the zonal offices.

Noting that the present administration through the ministry had slashed the registration rate to attract more commercial, residential and industrial partners to the State, the Commissioner presented N1.14bn as capital expenses, with N207m for recurrent expenditure giving a total budget size of N1.34bn, with N492m expected as revenue to government coffers.

The State Ministry of Housing, the State Housing Corporation, the State Planning and Development Permit Authority amongst others also defended their budget estimates before the lawmakers.
