Committed to ensuring governance through inputs from the people, Ogun State Ministry of Information and Strategy says it will deploy the use of modern communication platforms to improve mutual interaction between government and the people with a view to mobilizing the entire citizenry towards government programmes next.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Mrs. Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, who disclosed this during the 2020 budget defence before lawmakers at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, stated that the objectives of the budget included repositioning the State through re-awakening the people at embracing her core values, while branding the State to leverage on the successes achieved on developmental projects.
Modele added that the Ministry in the next fiscal year planned to procure new equipment including digital camera projectors; upgrade its editing suite to fit into digital compliance for improved service delivery and effective publicity of government’s activities.
To achieve the foregoing, the Special Adviser put forward a total budget estimate of N779.98m, out of which N171.6m was earmarked for capital projects and the remaining N608.38m to cater for recurrent expenditure including personnel and overhead costs, with revenue target set at N30m.
In a related development, the General Manager, State Television, (OGTV), Festus Kehinde has reaffirmed the station’s commitment to the sustenance of high quality broadcast content and the projection of local, national and international news and values to the grassroot and global audience, just as his OGBC counterpart, Diji Akinhanmi renewed the commitment of the radio Station at serving as two-way channel, through propagation of information and gathering of feedback from the people.
To this end, the GM OGTV proposed a total budget of N1.05B for the next fiscal year, with N371M earmarked for salaries and allowances, while N679m would be spent on capital projects, while N500m was the expected revenue to coffers of government.
On his part, the GM OGBC put forward a total budget of N585m for year 2020, out of which N332m was meant for recurrent expenditure, while capital projects would gulp N253m and expected revenue for the year put at N450m.
The State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Bureau of ICT, State Signage and Advertisement Agency, Bureau of Transportation and State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) also took turn to defend their 2020 budget estimates before the lawmakers.
Ogun State Printing Coorporation, the State Independent Electoral Commission, the State Parks and Garrage Development Board, Bureau of ICT and the State Muslim Welfare Board amongst others defended their budget proposals before the lawmakers
