The Ogun State House of Assembly has urged government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to work with local government councils and the public to contain the spread of cholera in the state.

Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide made the call during a plenary session held at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The call follows a presentation by Hon. Wahab Haruna, Chairman of the House Committee on Health, who emphasized the need for residents to take necessary precautions to halt the spread of the disease.

The Speaker commended the State Government for its prompt intervention in purchasing protective kits and solicited the collaboration of relevant MDAs and the Department of Public Health and sanitation at the local government level.

Hon. Haruna stressed the importance of enforcing public health precautions and promoting hygiene practices among private food vendors to save lives.

Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, representing Yewa North, sought more awareness and intervention from the Government against the disease at the grassroots level.

In a related development, the Assembly congratulated Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun on his emergence as the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum in Nigeria, following a meeting hosted by Ogun State.
