A total of 560 pilgrims from Ogun State have arrived Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, from Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following the successful completion of Hajj rites.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by Rasak Sekoni, Press Officer to OGSMPWB in Abeokuta today.
The Executive Secretary, Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, (OGSMPWB) Alhaji Abdul Hakeem Kalejaiye expressed gratitude to Allah, saying the journey back home was an attestation to the effort of the Board and support of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), to ensure hitch-free logistics.
Kalejaiye had earlier, during a briefing in Makkah, assured that the flight schedule of pilgrims would be adhered to, “now that the first batch is through, it is an indication that the batch to follow will airlift back home as planned.
“On the part of further movement to Jeddah, we await National Hajj Commission’s directive”.
In a related development, the Chairman, Committee on Hajj, Alhaji Miftau Majekodunmi, had admonished pilgrims to be careful with their new status and shun any act that may portray them in bad light, adding that to perform Hajj is to turn a new leaf and desist sins.
Speaking on behalf of the pilgrims, Alhaji Abiodun Awere and Alhaja Aishat Akindele thanked Allah for His grace and protection during the Hajj, appreciating the committee for the welfare provided throughout the exercise.
They added that the fear of Allah and good conduct should always be seen in the life of Pilgrims, even after they returned home.
