The Ogun State government has reiterated its dedication to fostering a supportive environment for workers, vowing to work closely with Labour Unions and their affiliates to ensure their well-being.

The assurance was given by the State’s Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, during the 5th State Branch Quadrennial Delegates’ Conference of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Ogun State Branch, held at the Ogun Bureaucrats’ House, Magbon, Abeokuta.

Onasanya emphasized that the government, under the leadership of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, remains committed to building a strong, mutually beneficial relationship with organized labour.

He highlighted the importance of dialogue, understanding, and collaboration in achieving this goal. “The commitment of the Ogun State Government to promoting a mutually beneficial relationship with organized labour cannot be overemphasized,” Onasanya said.

Acknowledging the vital role of workers in the development of the state, Onasanya expressed gratitude for their invaluable contributions.

He also commended the leadership of the labour unions for advocating for workers’ welfare and promoting continuous improvement in the labour environment.

“Your contributions to the development and advancement of the Public Service are invaluable,” he added.

He called on labour leaders to continue their support for the state government’s policies and programs, which are aimed at enhancing the welfare of the people.

“As we continue the journey of ‘Building Our Future Together’ under the leadership of His Excellency, the Governor, your continued support and collaboration remain absolutely crucial to the successful implementation of this transformative agenda,” Onasanya stated.

In separate goodwill messages, Comrade Akeem Lasisi, Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Ogun State, and Comrade Ademola Hameed-Benco, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ogun State, praised the leadership of the ASCSN for its clear vision and dedication over the last four years.

They particularly acknowledged the peaceful, rancor-free atmosphere that characterized the tenure. Both union leaders also appreciated Governor Abiodun for prioritizing workers’ welfare, notably the timely payment of the new minimum wage, which they said has made Ogun State stand out among other states.

Earlier, the Branch Chairman of ASCSN, Comrade Isa Olude, thanked the state government for its worker-friendly policies, including the prompt payment of salaries, regular promotions, and the implementation of the new national minimum wage.

He reassured the government that the State Public Service would continue to be a leader in the country, fulfilling its statutory duties while urging the Federal Government to address the current economic challenges faced by the people.

“We will remain the leading light in the comity of states, and we call on the Federal Government to give urgent attention to the economic challenges to improve the quality of life for all,” Olude said.
