The Ogun State government has disclosed detailed procedures for converting vehicles from Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered engines. This initiative aims to make transportation more cost-effective and accessible for residents.
Speaking in Abeokuta at his office in Oke-Mosan, the Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, explained the conversion process involves three stages: Pre-Inspection of Vehicles by the Vehicle Inspection Services (VIS) alongside technicians at conversion centres, Approval for Computerised Vehicle Inspection, and finally, Conversion and Certification by the Conversion Manager on-site.
“As part of this effort, we currently have two conversion centres: Nigeria Gas Transport Solution Ltd (NGTSL), located at Ogun State Public Works Agency, Agbeloba, Abeokuta, and NEXT GEN LTD, situated at 37, Olorunsogo, Abiola Way, Abeokuta,” Dairo announced.
He further listed three refilling stations available for converted vehicles: Green Fuel on the Lagos-Abeokuta Express Road, Obada, Abeokuta; Gasco Marine, Abeokuta, also on Lagos-Abeokuta Express Road, Obada; and Nioco Gas located on Mowe/Ibafo, Sagamu-Lagos Express Way.
The Commissioner urged citizens to contact the Director of Vehicle Inspection Services, Ministry of Transportation, Engr. Gboyega Ademehin, for additional information and clarifications.
E-Bike Charging Locations
In addition to CNG conversion, Engr. Dairo highlighted the locations where batteries of electric bikes (E-Bikes) introduced by the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration could be recharged. These stations include:
MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto
Skating Ground, Panseke
Opposite Fatgbems Filling Station, Oke-Sokori
Enu-Gada
Ramada Filling Station, Asero
Carry Go, Rounder
Ogun State Public Works Agency premises, Agbeloba
