The Acting Rector, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration and the leadership of the State House of Assembly for restoring the hope of concerned stakeholders including thousands of students, parents and lecturers of the institution for the return of smooth academic activities to the institution.

Odedina, who gave the commendation during the 2020 budget presentation of the Polytechnic which was put at N2.626bn before the lawmakers at the budget defence session presided over by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation Olakunle Sobukanla, remarked that the timely intervention and collaboration between the two arms of government restored academic activities to the institution.

On the financial plan for the next fiscal year, Odedeji assured that more buildings including production yards for Schools of Environmental and Engineering as well as Agricultural Centre amongst others, which would gulp N127.4m, while N25.5m was set aside for other infrastructural facilities especially power, while N40.93m was earmarked for accreditation of courses with the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE). He added that N2.210bn would cater for recurrent expenses while N1.750bn was presented as revenue target.

Also, the Rector, Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, Dr Kolawole Oyeyinka said the polytechnic which intended to evolve more initiatives to boost human capital development for the industrial and technological needs of the nation, would expend N1.265bn as its total budget for next year.

Of the total budget, N825m would be spent on capital projects, N440.5m on salaries, allowances and other overhead costs, with a total of N1.770bn set as revenue target for the next fiscal year.

Other agencies that defended their 2020 financial estimates before the lawmakers included the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), State Technical and Vocational Education Board, State Bureau of Tertiary Institutions, State Library Board, D. S Adegbenro Polytechnic, Itori, Gateway Institute of Technology Igbesa, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo amongst others.
