The Ogun State government has assured sports enthusiasts of its readiness to host an exciting and seamless National Sports Festival in January 2025.

Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, the Commissioner for Sports Development, made this commitment while addressing sports journalists at the press center of the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, during the ongoing National Youth Games.

Isiaka emphasized that Ogun State is preparing to offer improved sporting facilities to ensure that the 2025 festival is one of the best in the nation’s history.

He stated, “We are committed to providing better facilities and ensuring that the festival is a memorable one.”

In line with the festival’s vision of promoting national unity, all athletes and officials will be accommodated in a single central location.

Adequate transportation systems will be established to connect the three key centers: Iperu, Ikenne, and Abeokuta, ensuring smooth movement for all participants.

The Commissioner also highlighted that the opening ceremony and all events of the 2025 Games are designed to be glamorous, aiming to surpass the standards set by the 2006 edition.

Isiaka reassured journalists that the Ogun government will collaborate with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for a successful hosting of the festival.

“We’ve discussed it. The SWAN Chairman in Ogun and I have agreed that they will be in the next Local Organizing Committee (LOC) meeting. I’ve even informed the LOC Chairman, Chief Olopade, about it. We are working on it, and I will ensure that at least one or two of them will be accommodated,” Isiaka said.

Regarding the media center, Isiaka assured that preparations are underway with active involvement from the SWAN Chairman Ogun.

He confirmed, “Yes, we have a media center. The SWAN Chairman Ogun is here, and we are working together on that. Olopade actually addressed the press on media coverage and how we are working to ensure proper arrangements for the media. There’s no problem as far as media is concerned.”

The National Sports Festival will take place from January 15th to 24th, 2025, with the closing ceremony scheduled for January 25th, 2025.
