Abeokuta, Ogun State – In a bid to ensure a secure and conducive learning environment, the Ogun State Government has commenced the demolition of shanties and makeshift structures along the walls of various schools in the state capital.

This move is part of the government’s Safer School Initiative, aimed at preventing criminal activities and environmental hazards that pose a threat to students and staff.

According to Alhaji Farook Akintunde, Chairman of the Ogun State Taskforce on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, “The state government is determined to ensure that no shanty or makeshift structure is allowed near any school wall. We want to create a safe and secure environment for our children to learn and grow.”

“The demolition exercise is a necessary step to prevent criminal elements from using these structures as hideouts to carry out their nefarious activities,” Akintunde added.

The demolition exercise has already been carried out in several schools, including St. John Primary School, Kuto, and Nawair Ud Deen Primary and High School at Oke Ijeun.

This proactive measure is expected to improve the overall safety and well-being of students and staff in Ogun State schools.

“The government is committed to providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our schools,” said Akintunde.
