Ogun Declares November 15 Work-Free for LG Election

In a recent announcement from the Bureau of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, the Ogun State Government has declared Friday, November 15, 2024, as a work-free day for civil and public servants.

This directive, approved by Governor Dapo Abiodun, aims to enable government employees to travel to their respective local government areas and fully participate in the upcoming local government elections set for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

The elections, organized by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), will determine chairpersons for Ogun State’s 20 local government areas and councillors across its 236 wards.

This decision, according to the Bureau of Service Matters, “reflects the administration’s commitment to promoting inclusive and participatory governance.”

In line with this directive, Permanent Secretaries and heads of government agencies are urged to ensure that their departments comply, ensuring a smooth process as Ogun State supports its citizens’ active involvement in democracy.
